The creation of comprehensive dashboards for the Capital Region and Western New Brunswick aims to provide a dynamic, data-driven representation of key economic, demographic, and social indicators. These dashboards are designed to inform stakeholders, including businesses, policymakers, and residents, about the region’s current state and trends, fostering informed decision-making, highlighting opportunities for economic growth and addressing challenges within the region.

Since its launch on December 30th, 2023, the dashboard has undergone numerous design changes to enhance usability and accessibility. With each iteration, more relevant information has been included across various categories, ensuring a comprehensive and user-friendly experience. Additionally, the dashboard is bilingual, available in both English and French, to cater to the diverse linguistic needs of the region.

To keep the dashboards current, regular updates are scheduled using the latest data from reliable sources such as Statistics Canada, regional economic surveys, and local government reports. An automated data integration system is implemented to streamline this process, ensuring real-time accuracy.

The electronic strategy for promoting the dashboards includes a blend of digital marketing techniques such as social media engagement, and newsletters articles. Integrating the dashboards into an interactive website with user-friendly navigation and mobile compatibility enhances accessibility and user experience.

The impact of these dashboards on the region is significant, providing transparency and accessibility to critical information. Businesses can use this data for strategic planning, investors can identify growth opportunities, and policymakers can design informed policies to address regional needs. This promotes economic development and improves the quality of life in the region.

Initial feedback from stakeholders indicates that the dashboards are meeting objectives by providing clear, actionable insights. Continuous user feedback will be solicited to ensure the dashboards evolve effectively.

Challenges in the project included data limitations, data integration from various sources, and making the dashboards intuitive and accessible. To address these, proxy data was used where necessary, an automated data integration system was implemented, and iterative design improvements were made based on user testing and feedback.

The target audience for these dashboards includes local businesses, investors, policymakers, researchers, immigrants and residents of the Capital Region and Western New Brunswick, reflecting the diverse community within the region.

Sustainability is a core aspect of the project. Automated data systems ensure long-term viability with minimal manual intervention. Digital tools reduce the need for printed materials, minimizing environmental impact. The dashboards are designed to provide long-term value by continuously evolving based on user feedback and technological advancements, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making that benefits both local and global communities.
