Business to Bruce. Helping Entrepreneurs Succeed and Boosting Resiliency in Bruce County.
Purpose of Project
We created the promotional video, “Business to Bruce: Helping Entrepreneurs Succeed and Boosting Resiliency in Bruce County,” to create awareness and highlight our commitment to supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs. Our goal was to encourage people to consider opening or expanding their businesses in Bruce County. The video highlighted the diverse opportunities available beyond tourism and outdoor adventure, emphasizing that Bruce County offers a thriving environment for various industries. By featuring the services of the Bruce County Economic Development team and sharing success stories of local entrepreneurs, we aimed to inspire and attract potential business owners to the region. The expected outcomes included heightened interest in Bruce County as a business destination, increased engagement with our services, and the establishment of new businesses that contribute to local economic resilience and growth.
Effectiveness / Meeting Objectives (if known)
The video was highly effective in achieving our Economic Development team’s goals by raising awareness of our services and encouraging individuals to seek support throughout their entrepreneurial journey. With 31,001 views, 494.5 hours of watch time, 582 impressions, and a 4.0% click-through rate, it significantly contributed to our goals. Our Business to Bruce team has reached 75% of the 2024 target for consultations and connections, halfway through the year.
Challenges & Changes made
A key challenge was coordinating with busy entrepreneurs whose tight schedules made timing difficult. To resolve this, we partnered with a media company that shared our vision and managed the planning efficiently. Their ability helped us capture our message and navigate scheduling constraints, resulting in a high-quality video that met our goals.
Target Audience
The promotional video strategically targeted adults aged 18 to 64 in Bruce County and surrounding areas, encompassing both male (60.9%) and female (39.2%) viewers. Not limited to business owners, it aimed at a wide audience, with 23% of views from Port Elgin, 22% from Kincardine, and the rest from nearby regions. Device usage was on TV (79.2%), followed by mobile phones (9.8%), computers (6.7%), and tablets (4.4%). The age distribution was 13.2% (18-24 years), 22.9% (25-34 years), 25.1% (35-44 years), 16.6% (45-54 years), and 21.5% (55-64 years). This broad demographic appeal was designed to engage young adults seeking new opportunities and experienced professionals considering new ventures.
Sustainability
The “Business to Bruce” promotional video highlights the benefits of opening and running a business in Bruce County, highlighting services provided by our Economic Development team. It emphasizes local entrepreneurship, sharing testimonials and success stories that create a supportive business culture. The video promotes sustainable practices and community support, ensuring long-term economic stability and growth in Bruce County.
