Manager, Economic Development – City of Coquitlam

Reporting to the Deputy City Manager and working closely with City Council, the Manager, Economic Development is responsible for providing advice and guidance required to develop and shape the City’s economic development strategies and programs. The Manager will work across City departments to promote economic development to attract and retain businesses to, and in, the City. As a creative leader, the Manager will identify obstacles to economic development and recommend changes to policies, bylaws, and procedures to engage in innovative and forward thinking and support a growing business and residential community.

The ideal candidate will have a university degree in business, public administration, and/or another relevant discipline. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience of related experience; municipal or regional government experience would be considered an asset. The position requires a balanced blend of technical and corporate expertise with a track record of success in leading, engaging, internal and external stakeholders. The position requires excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
