It is an exciting time for Economic Development in St. Albert, as one of the City’s key priorities is building and diversifying our economy in partnership with the community and stakeholders.
The Economic Development branch is looking for a dynamic individual to support the Business Attraction portfolio, specifically all facets and stages of commercial and industrial real estate development. Reporting to the Manager, Business Attraction, the primary responsibility of the Economic Development Officer will be to partner with local organizations and businesses to facilitate economic development in the City of St. Albert. The incumbent will create action plans, organize and lead key events, attend trade show and support business attraction initiatives.
The Economic Development Officer will also act as an economic development generalist and utilize their strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to ensure the department goals of business retention, expansion and attraction are met.
- A university or college degree or diploma is required, preferably in Community Economic Development and/or Business Administration.
- Three or more years of experience related to all facets of economic development is required. Previous experience in commercial and industrial real estate development is preferred.
- Certified Economic Developer (Ec.D.) designation or willingness to achieve the designation is an asset.
- Member of the Economic Developers Association of Canada and/or Alberta is an asset.
- A valid Class 5 drivers license is required.
HOURS OF WORK
Compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).
Some meetings and work outside of regular office hours, and/or local travel in the evenings and weekends may be required.
$74,438 – $90,565 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive benefit package including a defined benefit pension plan.
