Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, your senior role as Director, Economic Development & Culture will find you leading a team of professionals to develop and execute strategic economic growth and find opportunities for foreign investment, with a focus on enhancing the City’s cultural offerings. In growing talent and establishing relationships with partners and stakeholders, you will position Brampton as a vibrant economic hub and prime location for investment and business success, with an eye on creating jobs and supporting the City’s vision for the future.
Your strategic vision, approach to building meaningful relationships, public relations skills and budget accountability will propel Brampton’s broader strategy forward. With Brampton’s 2040 Planning vision in mind, you will entice foreign investment and present the City to the world, with the goal of attracting large employers in order to create a strong, competitive job market. As a key member of the leadership team, you will leverage Brampton’s unique offerings through marketing and special events, while working closely with Cultural Services to realize a vision of Brampton in which culture also drives investment.
As an effective communicator you are able to convey concepts and showcase Brampton in a clear, concise and captivating story that draws interest and investment. You’re equipped to act as an ambassador for the City of Brampton enabling and working with a wide range of internal and external key stakeholders, including elected officials, community groups, government agencies, public and private sector organizations, private investors, the public and the media.
You hold a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Economic Development, Business or Commerce, or a graduate degree in Economic Development. You bring 10 years’ experience in Business Development, Economic Development and Growth or a similar leadership role, highlighting your exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, project management ability, and knowledge of the GTA. You are comfortable and confident in coordinating the efforts of various advisory panels at the City, and can do so regularly, providing expert advice and recommendations to enable municipal decision-making.
