A B OU T  TH E  R OL E

The Director of Economic Development & Civic Properties provides leadership and development for the economic development department. The Director is responsible for facilitating, promoting and enhancing economic development and tourism across the community and for the day to day management of the economic development function, which includes promoting tourism, business development and marketing strategies. Additionally, the Director provides strategic oversight for the City’s real estate programs and activities related to the development, acquisition, disposition, management and operations of City properties. As part of the City’s management team, the Director is a key contact for internal and external stakeholders liaising with City staff, advisory committees and Council as well as key external stakeholders including relevant professionals, public and community members.

Q U A LIF IC A T IO N S

The successful candidate will have degree in business administration or economics including experience with statistical analysis and marketing; additional Certification with the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC) is preferred. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of senior leadership experience, with demonstrated experience in business attraction, growth, development, and negotiation. The role requires significant contact with the local business community, industries and government agencies and real estate professionals, as well as responsibility for data research gathering and application. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
