The Regina 25 – A Digital Platform for Community Celebration

Submitted ByEconomic Development Regina

Purpose of Project (including anticipated outcomes)

The Regina 25 is a first-of-its-kind recognition campaign created to honour individuals who are shaping Regina’s economy and community. To bring this vision to life, Economic Development Regina developed a digital hub that would serve as the campaign’s functional and visual anchor. The website was designed to host public nominations, share category information, and ultimately showcase honourees and winners in a dynamic and accessible format.

The site’s primary goals were to support user engagement, increase awareness, encourage nominations, and act as a transparent, branded platform that would reflect the spirit of Regina and its people. It needed to be mobile-friendly, visually cohesive with the broader campaign identity, and easy to navigate. Anticipated outcomes included driving community participation, achieving at least 50+ completed nominations, and creating a scalable platform that could serve future editions of the campaign.

Effectiveness/Meeting Objectives (if known)

Objective: Drive awareness and participation through a strong digital presence
Result: The website generated 3,600+ engagements and 23,000+ website views during the campaign period. It moreover facilitated 150+ nominations, with 100+ quality nominations – well above the initial goal of 50+. Analytics showed continued strong performance after the campaign, with social media consistently driving traffic to the site. The one-page design was intentional, streamlining the user experience and maximizing engagement.

Challenges & Changes Made:

We aimed to ensure the campaign reflected Regina’s diverse population and didn’t only spotlight the “usual suspects.” This required proactive outreach, inclusive language, and category framing that allowed a wide range of nominations – from grassroots volunteers to business leaders.

Target Audiences (demographics)

  • Engaged citizens eager to boost civic pride by sharing positive stories about the people who make Regina special
  • Industry stakeholders, business leaders, and educational institutions who have a stake in growing Regina’s economic momentum
  • Potential new citizens or investors interested in learning more about what makes Regina special

Any specifics as detailed in the particular awards categories:

Beyond its functional role, the microsite served as a digital storytelling hub. Each award category and nominee profile was crafted to highlight the human side of Regina’s community. After the event, the site transitioned into a lasting archive – a space where residents and stakeholders can continue to explore the stories of Regina 25 honourees.

Any details regarding the sustainability of your project. Sustainability is about being mindful of one’s place, processes, and mentality in order to influence change for the better of our communities, local and global.

The microsite is built for long-term use and future editions of the Regina 25, reducing the need for redevelopment. It uses EDR’s existing hosting infrastructure, is fully digital, and avoids the need for paper-based nomination systems.
