Purpose of Project
In January 2025, the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA) launched a new website to create a future-ready digital platform that better reflects the identity, needs, and opportunities of the Saskatoon Region. Designed to support investment attraction, business growth, talent recruitment, and regional collaboration, the site offers intuitive navigation, localized data, and compelling storytelling. Our goal was to showcase the region’s economic strengths, improve access to key information, and clearly communicate why the Saskatoon Region is a place to build, invest, and grow.
Anticipated Outcomes
We set out to increase user engagement, elevate the visibility of investment opportunities, and improve access to business support resources for entrepreneurs, companies, and regional partners. A key goal was to empower our stakeholders to use the site as a tool for collaborative marketing and economic development. We also aimed to reflect the region’s diversity and vibrancy more accurately by integrating inclusive content and promoting the unique assets of our urban and rural communities.
Challenges & Changes Made
One of the key challenges was integrating accurate, timely data from our regional partners. To solve this, we partnered with Localintel to launch a new Regional Data Hub, replacing outdated tools and allowing for real-time, localized economic insights. Another challenge was unifying a range of regional voices and priorities into a single, consistent narrative. We addressed this through collaborative content development to ensure the platform accurately reflected the diversity of our communities.
Target Audience
The website was built to serve multiple audiences: site selectors, investors, entrepreneurs, skilled professionals considering relocation, municipal partners, and policymakers. Secondary audiences include local business owners, industry leaders, and community organizations. Our content strategy was developed with these audiences in mind, ensuring they could easily find relevant data, services, and messaging that speak to the region’s strengths.
Sustainability
This project was built for long-term impact. The platform’s mobile-friendly design, efficient content management system, and modular structure allow us to keep the site fresh and functional without high resource demands. We regularly update news, programs, success stories, and data to ensure the content remains accurate and useful. The site is designed to evolve alongside the region and our organization’s strategic goals.
Digital Strategy and Impact
The website is a central pillar of SREDA’s digital strategy. It strengthens our regional brand, amplifies economic messaging, and unites regional partners under a cohesive digital presence. By consolidating tools, data, and resources, the platform has become a go-to hub for business attraction, investor engagement, and regional pride. It supports not only today’s needs but positions our region for tomorrow’s growth.
