Holiday Markets in Chatham-Kent
Annually, Chatham-Kent boasts more than fifteen holiday markets taking place in November and December, across 2,458 square kilometres in multiple communities.
The overall goal of the video was to showcase the many magical things to do in Chatham-Kent during the holiday season and encouraging visitors to travel to the events. The video was also meant as a way to direct people to our website Holidays in CK web page, boost market attendance and encourage economic spin-off in each town. Ancillary goals included showcasing the diversity of each market, festival and event along with the variety of vendors and entertainment.
This video also led people to our Holidays in CK web page, showcasing the market dates and details, along with information about our unique Christmas Tree Trail.
Effectiveness
Anecdotal evidence from market hosts indicates that the video shared on our website, YouTube and our social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) was beneficial to the organizers, as they heard many people suggest they knew about the event from the video. As this was the first year for the video, we will be better able to compare in future years.
Web Statistics
The Holidays in CK web page between September 1, 2024 and December 24, 2024 had 13,150 views and was the top viewed page between that time.
Statistics from our social media platforms showed the video was very well received as well.
Challenges and Changes
There were two main challenges faced during the creation of this project.
Target Audience
The targeted audience is wide, as this video was created to reach a variety of ages, nationalities, and locations. It was delivered on social media to those within a three-hour drive radius of Chatham-Kent, and to those within the boundaries of Chatham-Kent, for residents to travel across the expansive municipality.
Sustainability
In the video, reusable cups used at the Dresden Night Market, are featured. These cups are purchased at the market by attendees, to curb one time use items for drinking. Additional items showcased include reusable bags, items created out of natural materials to showcase the efforts put forth by the vendors across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to be mindful of sustainability.
