Clean Energy Innovation and Recovery Summit – an economic development event hosted by Bruce County and Bruce Power
Each year Bruce County and Bruce Power deliver an economic development summit to showcase the advancement in clean energy and celebrate the economic opportunity of our clean energy future. The audience for this event includes elected officials from Bruce, Grey and Huron counties (upper and lower tier municipalities), economic development professionals and stakeholders, local clean energy sector supply chain representatives and the media.
In 2021 the Clean Energy Frontier program (a private/public partnership between Bruce County and Bruce Power) advanced a hybrid event, offering the audience a virtual experience with panelists and speakers being broadcast from the Nuclear Innovation Institute.
The agenda included a panel discussion, including Kinectrics (a clean energy supplier and partner in the medical isotope consortium, Isogen), Warden of Bruce County, Janice Jackson, and local business owner Jen Christie. The discussion surrounded the community and economic benefits associated with the clean energy sector in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.
In addition to the conversation of assessment growth and job creation, the audience heard from Bruce Power President and CEO, Mike Rencheck. Mr. Rencheck provided an update from Bruce Power, speaking to net zero goals, new opportunities such as increased capacity and medical isotopes. The local supply chain was also recognized by Bruce Power and Bruce County, with certificates being handed out to local representatives.
From this event, the Clean Energy Frontier program developed engaging video content for its social channels and continues to extend the life of the Summit by using these pieces in promotional and educational campaigns.
