2025-2026 Pickering Community Profile

Submitted ByCity of Pickering

The Community Profile was created to provide residents and external stakeholders with a clear snapshot update of major projects taking place within the City of Pickering. From residents to potential investors, there was a lack of awareness on the growth and major developments taking place across the City.

This 16-page document, featuring the newly launched Invest Pickering branding, highlights ongoing the success of projects such as Pickering’s vibrant film sector, the ongoing development of our Innovation Corridor, sustainability initiatives, and more.

The main challenge in creating the document is that data is pulled from departments across City such as City Planning, Community Services, Sustainability, Communications, and more. However, the end result is a comprehensive summary of the City’s projects and goals for the year, with the information then distilled into a format that is easy for the average resident and business to pick up and read.

The target audience are both residents and external stakeholders: residents, so that they are familiar with the exciting projects happening in their city, and external stakeholders get a high-level view at what Pickering offers as an investment destination. It has also been useful in informing government and institutional partners on latest updates in the Pickering economy.

The end result is a document available in print from in both City and library locations, as well as an accessible document available online on our website. It is meant to be a tool for economic development and broader municipal staff to reference, and an informative guide to the projects the city is collaborating on with the intent to improve the quality of life and quality of doing business.

The publication launched in May on Pickering Economic Outlook Event that hosted 180 participants from across government agencies, developers, and businesses. It is intended to be updated every year with limited physical copies to avoid discarding of outdated material.

Lastly, to build upon the Community Profile, staff collaborated with City Council to talk about the major projects taking place across the City and promote the publication. The short development update videos were posted across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
