Chief Executive Officer – Island Coastal Economic Trust

Published September 28, 2021
Closing Date: October 22, 2021

Created and capitalized by the Province of British Columbia in 2006, the Island Coastal Economic Trust (the “Trust”) is at the forefront of economic diversification, planning and regional revitalization in the Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast region. The Trust is independently governed by a Board of Directors and two Regional Advisory Committees which include more than 50 locally elected officials, MLAs and appointees from the Island and Coast. The Board includes representatives from diverse areas in the Trust’s region, including urban, rural, remote, and indigenous communities. Through a community centered decision-making process, more than $55 million has been invested in a wide range of economic development and community building initiatives.

The Trust is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace the current incumbent who will be retiring in 2022.  This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced executive with well-developed leadership and communication skills, who is committed to providing expert professional advice and support to a progressive, innovative, and very active organization.  Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the general oversight of all Trust operations including strategic planning and implementation, program development, providing policy advice to the Board, public communications, interagency relations and partnerships (with local governments, senior levels of government, First Nations, business, sectoral and other non-profit organizations), and hands-on operational and financial management. An additional key component of the job is providing support and mentorship to an experienced and dedicated team of professional staff.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership capabilities, combined with sound knowledge and direct working experience in economic and community development, relationship building with key regional stakeholders, indigenous relations, strategic planning, financial investment, fund development and Board governance. Post secondary education in a related field, combined with progressively responsible experience at an executive leadership level, is strongly preferred. In-depth knowledge and previous experience working in the ICET region would also be a considerable asset.

The Trust is prepared to offer a competitive salary commensurate with knowledge and experience, including a comprehensive benefit package and relocation assistance. Interested applicants are invited to submit a letter of interest and resume, by Friday, October 22nd, 2021 to:
