The inaugural EDAC Day on the Hill took place last week in Ottawa, and the event exceeded the expectations of board members and EDAC staff alike. Over the course of two days, the EDAC Board of Directors participated in almost 30 individual meetings with MPs, senior staff and partner organizations like the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), Industry Canada (IC) and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). The demand for the Ec.D. designation over the past few years – 2013 in particular – has increased substantially. More and more Canadian employers are requesting their existing economic development professionals earn their Ec.D. and are seeking the Ec.D. as pre-requisite when searching for new employees. Providing quality professional Development for EDAC members continued to be priority in 2013. Our accredited courses and seminars are what lead economic development professionals to gaining the points required to obtain the Ec.D. designation! We hope to continue to best serve our members by partnering with a variety of delivery agents in Canada. We will continue to strive to deliver accessible programming across the country in 2014.
